Riding Programs

Children can learn about horses and their care during a two-day program developed to provide a safe and practical introduction to horses and riding.
The course focuses on basic horse care and safety around large animals. We encourage family discussion and participation.

The Rainbow Connection Therapeutic Riding Center provides therapeutic horseback riding to children and adults with disabilities who live in the Anchorage area.
Classes take place in an environment that emphasizes abilities rather than disabilities.

Trail Rides, Sleigh, Carriage & Wagon Rides

Throughout the year, this is truly an enchanted escape, a world away from reality. Whether a peaceful walk or an invigorating lope, your ride is always customized to your level of comfort and experience.   The Carriage Wheel Ranch, the home of the “Gentle Giants”, is next to a rushing glacier stream called Peters Creek in Chugiak.
We have a sleigh that can seat 2 to 4 adults and two bob sleds that seat from 12 to 20 adults. Wagon rides are also available with seating for 20 to 30.
